EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the grandeur of The Royal Courts of Justice in Strand, Westminster, London, back in 1904. Designed by the renowned architect George Edmund Street in Victorian Gothic style, this iconic building was opened by Queen Victoria herself in 1882. As we gaze upon this image, our eyes are drawn eastward down the bustling Strand towards St Dunstan in the West. The photograph not only showcases the architectural beauty of this historic landmark but also provides a glimpse into daily life during that era. A horse-drawn carriage passes by on the road as a busy horse bus navigates through traffic. This scene reminds us of a time when transportation relied heavily on these majestic animals. The Royal Courts of Justice stand tall and proud amidst its surroundings, symbolizing justice and law within its walls. Its gothic revival design adds to its imposing presence while blending harmoniously with neighboring buildings along The Strand.
