EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a momentous occasion in British history - the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The image showcases the Queen alongside her Mistress of the Robes and the six Maids of Honour, all dressed in their regal attire. Queen Elizabeth II, born in 1926, ascended to the throne as Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms. This iconic photograph was taken on June 2nd, 1953 at Westminster Abbey in London during her coronation ceremony. The composition beautifully portrays Her Majesty wearing a magnificent crown and an elegant robe adorned with ermine fur. Standing beside her are distinguished ladies-in-waiting who played significant roles during this royal event. The picture exudes grace and poise as it captures these women from head to toe. Their full-length dresses, intricate details, and flowing trains add to their majestic appearance. The monochrome color scheme emphasizes their timeless beauty while highlighting every delicate feature.
