Prize Pigeons at the recent show of the Halifax Fancy Pigeon Association, 1862. Engravings...(from a sketch by Mr. H. Crossley) of some of the notabilities...all of which obtained first prizes in their respective classes. Towering over the rest of the group is Mr. Eden's (Salford) pouter; whilst the others range in the following order, beginning at the left hand: Mr. Eden's (Salford) almond tumblers; Mr. Sephton's (Prescot) common tumbler - bald; Mr. Shaw's (Stainland) trumpeter; Mr. Else's (London) short-faced tumbler - mottle; Mr. Archer's (London) short-faced tumbler - kite; Mr. Hives's (Nottingham) short-faced tumbler - beard; Mr. Stevens's (Axminster) carrier; Mr. Taylor's (Sheffield) fantail; Mr. Parker's (Chorley) turbit'.
