EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, titled 'Portrait of Teddy Kaye, Vivien Garry, and Arv(in) Charles Garrison, New York, N.Y. 1946,' is a stunning representation of the golden age of jazz in America during the 1940s. The image, created by renowned photographer William Paul Gottlieb, captures the essence of a moment in time when jazz music was at the forefront of cultural innovation. In the photograph, we see three individuals deeply engaged in their music, each lost in their own world. Teddy Kaye, the double bass player, gazes intently at his instrument, his concentration palpable. Vivien Garry, the jazz vocalist, looks directly at the camera with a confident and captivating expression, her evening dress adding an air of sophistication to the scene.
