EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite Kelmscott Chaucer, a literary masterpiece bound by the renowned artist William Morris in 1896. The photograph captures the cover of The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer, an iconic publication illustrated by Edward Burne-Jones and published by Morris' Kelmscott Press. The image transports us back to the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century, where intricate decorative arts flourished. This special binding represents a fusion of medieval inspiration with Victorian aesthetics, reflecting Morris' passion for reviving traditional craftsmanship. The Kelmscott Chaucer is not only a testament to Morris' exceptional bookbinding skills but also serves as a historical artifact from the late 19th century.
