EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the image of Brian Duppa, an influential figure in 17th century England. Born in 1589, Duppa was not only an English bishop but also served as a chaplain to the royal family. He was known for his loyalty to the monarchy and acted as an advisor to King Charles I of England during a tumultuous period in British history. Educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford, Duppa possessed great knowledge and wisdom which he shared through his writings. This particular photograph is taken from "Biographical Illustrations" by Alfred Howard, published in 1830.
