EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in history, showcasing the Archbishop of Canterbury at Number 10 Downing Street during the tumultuous years of World War II. Taken around 1943, this image depicts British Prime Minister Winston Churchill alongside Dr. William Temple on the terrace behind Downing Street in London. Churchill, known for his strong leadership during the war, can be seen wearing battledress - a symbol of his dedication to serving his country. The Archbishop stands beside him, representing the spiritual guidance and support offered during these challenging times. The composition exudes an air of solemnity and determination as these two influential figures discuss matters that would shape not only Britain's destiny but also impact the entire world.
