This wood engraving captures a moment frozen in time when humans harnessed these natural resources to fuel economic growth. As we reflect upon this historical artifact, we are reminded of the challenges faced by those who labored in this demanding industry – battling treacherous rivers and unpredictable weather conditions while striving to meet growing demands for timber across America.
