EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the late 19th century takes us back to a time when innocence and curiosity defined childhood. The portrait showcases a young child, their identity forever preserved in sepia tones. Standing confidently, this American boy or girl is dressed in traditional clothing of the era. The carte de visite was captured by a photography studio in Chicago, Illinois, around 1880. This small format photograph gained popularity during that time as it allowed people to exchange portraits with friends and loved ones easily. Through this image, we catch a glimpse into an interior setting - perhaps the studio itself or even the child's own home. The details of the room remain unidentified but add depth to the composition. Granger Art on Demand has beautifully reproduced this historical artifact, ensuring its preservation for generations to come.
