EDITORS COMMENTS
Say 'claws'! This Long-clawed Squat Lobster is striking a pose in the picturesque sea loch of Loch Carron, Scotland. With its vibrant red color and impressive pincers, this crustacean knows how to make a splash in the Atlantic waters! As an adult Munida rugosa, it has found its perfect home along the rugged coastline of Ross and Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands. This little eurasian lobster thrives in these temperate waters, adding a touch of marine charm to Britain's coastal beauty. With its plated decapod body and intricate details, it's no wonder why this species belongs to the Galatheidae family. Its long claws are not only for show but also help it navigate through underwater crevices with ease. In June, when summer graces Loch Carron with warm rays of sunshine, you can spot these fascinating creatures exploring their aquatic habitat. They bring life and excitement to the lochs as they scuttle along the rocky seabed. So next time you find yourself near Loch Carron or any other Scottish inlet, keep an eye out for these delightful lobsters that call our coasts home. Their presence reminds us of the incredible diversity found beneath Scotland's waves – a true treasure waiting to be discovered!
