Char minar (four minarets)

Photogenic little Char Minar bears more relation to Indian styles than to anything Bukharan. This was the gatehouse of a long-gone medressa built in 1807

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the iconic Char Minar, a stunning architectural masterpiece located in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Standing tall against a clear blue sky, the four minarets of Char Minar create an enchanting sight that is truly photogenic. Despite its name, this historic structure bears more resemblance to Indian styles rather than Bukharan architecture. Originally serving as the gatehouse for a medressa constructed in 1807, Char Minar now stands as a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of this ancient city. The low angle view beautifully showcases the intricate details of its exterior, highlighting the skillful craftsmanship that went into its construction. Surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers, Char Minar exudes an aura of tranquility and beauty. The sunlight gracefully illuminates every nook and cranny of this magnificent building, casting shadows on nearby branches and enhancing its visual appeal. As you gaze upon this photograph by Frans Sellies from Fine Art Storehouse, you can almost feel yourself transported back in time to witness firsthand the grandeur and splendor of Bukhara's past. It serves as a reminder of how architecture can transcend borders and cultures while leaving an indelible mark on our collective history.
