EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print by Kirsten Holst, we are transported to the vast and arid landscapes of Namibia's Ganab District. Standing tall and proud in the center of a gravel road, a lone Gemsbok commands our attention. The magnificent antelope, scientifically known as Oryx gazella, is perfectly adapted to survive in these harsh desert conditions. The Gemsbok's striking appearance is highlighted against the backdrop of barren earth and distant sand dunes. Its long, elegant horns reach towards the sky with an air of regality. With its head held high and piercing eyes fixed on something unseen, it exudes an aura of strength and resilience. As we gaze at this scene frozen in time, we can almost feel the heat radiating from the sun-baked ground beneath our feet. The tracks left behind by passing vehicles tell tales of human presence amidst this untamed wilderness. There is a sense of stillness captured within this image - a moment where time stands still as nature takes center stage. We cannot help but wonder what has caught the Gemsbok's attention; perhaps it senses danger or simply pauses to survey its surroundings before continuing on its solitary journey through life. Kirsten Holst's masterful composition allows us to immerse ourselves in this remote corner of Southern Africa, reminding us that even in desolate landscapes such as these, beauty can be found if only we take a moment to stop and appreciate it.
