EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the iconic Route 66 during the 1940s. The image showcases a long stretch of this historic highway, leading towards Albuquerque, with the majestic Sandia Mountains serving as a breathtaking backdrop. As we gaze at this snapshot frozen in time, we are transported to an era when road trips were filled with adventure and discovery. The composition of the photograph is striking, capturing both the vastness of the desert landscape and the diminishing perspective of Route 66 disappearing into the horizon. A weathered sign stands proudly on the side of the road, symbolizing not only a direction but also embodying a sense of freedom and wanderlust that characterized travel along this legendary route. The format chosen for this print enhances its vintage charm, allowing us to appreciate every detail captured by FPG's lens. The monochromatic tones add depth and texture to each element within the frame - from the rugged mountains towering above to every crack on that old signpost. Whether you have personally experienced driving down Route 66 or simply admire its significance in American history, this print serves as a timeless reminder of an era gone by. It invites us to reflect upon our own journeys while appreciating those who came before us on this iconic highway.
