Inspired by the original painting by Daniel Maclise around 1855 and engraved by C. W Sharpe in 1870, this piece showcases great detail and quality that is sure to captivate any viewer. Set against the backdrop of Sherwood Forest, renowned for its association with Robin Hood and his band of merry men, this image transports us to an era of rebellion and criminality. In the forefront stands Orlando, a legendary figure known for his strength and courage. His imposing presence dominates the scene as he engages in a wrestling match with an equally formidable opponent. The black-and-white aesthetic adds depth to the engraving's intricate lines, emphasizing every muscle strain and expression on their faces. The dense woods surrounding them create an atmosphere filled with mystery and intrigue. This horizontal composition allows us to witness this intense encounter up close, almost feeling the energy radiating from their struggle.
