EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Poem of the Sea: The Dawn of the Atlantic" transports us to a world where imagination and reality intertwine. Created by Moutin Fernandez de la Torre, a Spanish artist from the early 20th century, this artwork is housed in the Museo Nestor de la Torre in Las Palmas, Canary Islands. The image depicts a mesmerizing scene filled with symbolism and mystery. At its center, we see an awe-inspiring sea monster emerging from the depths of the ocean. Its powerful presence is juxtaposed against delicate fish swimming gracefully around it. This juxtaposition creates a sense of harmony between strength and fragility within nature. Intriguingly, amidst this underwater spectacle, we witness a wrestling match between two nude figures. Their nakedness serves as a metaphor for vulnerability and raw human emotions that are often hidden beneath societal norms. It invites us to reflect on our own struggles and confrontations in life. As we delve deeper into this artwork's narrative, we are reminded of the vast diversity found within our natural world. The inclusion of various animal species emphasizes their importance in maintaining ecological balance. Overall, "Poem of the Sea: The Dawn of the Atlantic" captures both our fascination with nature's wonders and our complex relationship with it as humans. Through its thought-provoking imagery, it encourages us to appreciate both beauty and challenges present in our surroundings while contemplating our place within them.
