EDITORS COMMENTS
This woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai, titled "Shimomeguro, c. 1830" is a part of his renowned series called "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji". This ukiyo-e masterpiece showcases the majestic mountain in various seasons and weather conditions from different perspectives. In this particular print, we are transported to Shimomeguro village, where men and women engage in their daily lives amidst the breathtaking landscape. The scene depicts workers laboring diligently in an agricultural setting, cultivating the land with utmost care.
