EDITORS COMMENTS
This engraving takes us back in time to the 19th century, offering a glimpse into the exquisite interior of the Chapel at Exeter College, Oxford. The attention to detail is remarkable, showcasing the mastery of the English School artist who created this print. The chapel's grandeur is evident as one's eyes wander across its ornate architecture. Every corner seems to whisper stories of centuries past. The skillful use of light and shadow brings depth to each carved pillar and delicate stained glass window, creating an atmosphere that is both solemn and awe-inspiring. Designed by Mr G G Scott, RA, Architect, this masterpiece stands as a testament to his vision and talent. It is no wonder that it was chosen for publication in The Builder magazine in July 1862; such beauty deserves recognition. Exeter College itself holds a significant place in history as one of Oxford University's oldest colleges. This engraving allows us a rare opportunity to appreciate not only its architectural splendor but also its historical importance. As we gaze upon this print from Bridgeman Images' Private Collection, we are transported back through time. We can almost hear echoes of prayers whispered within these hallowed walls and feel the weight of knowledge accumulated over generations within these very pews.
