Bevelled wood effect frame, card mounted, 15x10 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 21x16 inches (54x41cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. This print titled "Water, c. 1640-41" by Claude Deruet takes us back to a wintry scene filled with allegorical elements and mythological symbolism. The oil on canvas masterpiece, measuring 112.8x227.3 cm, is housed in the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Orleans, France. In this frozen landscape, we witness a grand celebration taking place amidst the snow-covered coast. A male figure stands proudly atop a galleon ship while a female figure gracefully glides across the icy terrain on a sleigh pulled by horses. Cherubs flutter above them, heralding their arrival with trumpets as if announcing an important event from heaven. The scene is filled with joyous activity as people engage in horsedrawn fun and enjoyment along the shore. Mythical sea creatures emerge from beneath the frozen waves to witness this momentous occasion. However, not all is perfect in this idyllic winter wonderland. In one corner of the painting, an accident has occurred - perhaps a crash between two sleighs or some other mishap resulting in injury.
