EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the intricate costume design for Oberon, a character from Shakespeare's timeless play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Created by Wilhelm C. , a talented artist from the late 19th to early 20th century, this stunning piece of artwork is now housed in the prestigious Victoria & Albert Museum in London. In this image, we see Oberon portrayed as a majestic fairy king. His ethereal wings spread wide behind him, exuding an aura of enchantment and mystery. Adorned with vibrant flowers and adorned garments, his costume captures the essence of nature and magic that permeates throughout the play. The attention to detail in this costume design is truly remarkable. Every petal on each flower seems delicately placed, while every fold in his regal attire adds depth and texture to the overall composition. The combination of colors chosen evokes a sense of otherworldliness and whimsy. As we gaze upon this photograph, we are transported into the realm of Shakespearean theater. We can almost hear Oberon's commanding voice echoing through our minds as he holds court over his fairy kingdom. It serves as a reminder not only of the power of imagination but also how art can bring stories to life. This print is more than just an image; it encapsulates centuries-old theatrical traditions and celebrates the enduring legacy left by William Shakespeare himself.
