EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us to the enchanting Italian Garden of 1764, as captured by the talented artist Robert Hubert. The image showcases a scene from the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, France, where nature and art intertwine seamlessly. In this mysterious 18th-century garden, we are greeted by a young girl standing beneath an ancient tree. Her presence adds an element of innocence and wonder to the already magical atmosphere. As our eyes wander through the frame, we notice a statue gracefully positioned near a grand doorway, hinting at hidden stories waiting to be discovered. The attention to detail in this XVIIIth century masterpiece is remarkable; every leaf and petal seems meticulously crafted. It serves as a testament to both Hubert's artistic skill and his passion for botany and natural history. As we delve deeper into this European Union treasure, it becomes clear that this park holds secrets yet untold. Perhaps it was once frequented by children who reveled in its beauty or served as a meeting place for intellectuals discussing science and philosophy. Jean Bernard has expertly preserved this moment in time with his photography skills, allowing us to appreciate not only the art but also its historical significance. This print is more than just an image; it is an invitation to explore Europe's rich cultural heritage and immerse ourselves in its timeless beauty.
