EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Mary Jelliffe takes us on a visual journey to the heart of Central African Republic, where we are greeted by the enchanting traditional houses of the Sango Tribe. The image showcases typical roadside dwellings that beautifully reflect the rich architectural heritage and cultural identity of this region. The mud brick walls and thatched roofs stand as testaments to centuries-old building techniques passed down through generations. Each house exudes a sense of warmth and harmony with its natural surroundings, blending seamlessly into the lush landscape. It is evident that these structures were crafted with care and love, creating safe havens for families within their sturdy embrace. As our eyes wander across this picturesque scene, we cannot help but notice the presence of people – adults going about their daily activities while children play joyfully nearby. These individuals add life and vibrancy to an already stunning tableau, reminding us that architecture is not just about physical structures; it is also about human connection and community. Mary Jelliffe's skillful composition captures both the beauty of these traditional houses and the spirit of those who call them home. Through her lens, she invites us to appreciate not only the aesthetics but also the stories embedded within each dwelling - stories filled with resilience, tradition, and a deep-rooted sense of belonging. In this photograph from EyeUbiquitous collection, we witness a harmonious blend between architecture, people's lives, culture, and nature itself – an exquisite snapshot frozen in time for all to admire.
