EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the historic lighthouse in Swakopmund, Namibia. Constructed in 1902, this architectural gem stood at a modest eleven meters high until its height was nearly doubled in 1910. The red and white structure stands tall against the backdrop of the stunning Namib Desert, exuding an air of colonial charm. The lighthouse serves as a testament to Namibia's rich history as a former German colony. Its presence is a reminder of the country's past and its enduring ties to European influence. Standing proudly amidst palm trees, it offers both locals and visitors alike a glimpse into the nation's cultural heritage. Located along the Skeleton Coast, this iconic landmark has become one of Namibia's most popular travel destinations. Travelers are drawn to its unique blend of African and colonial architecture that tells stories from generations past. Nigel Pavitt expertly captures this remarkable sight through his lens, allowing viewers to appreciate not only the grandeur of the lighthouse but also its significance within sub-Saharan Africa.
