EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in history - Queen Victoria receiving the news of her accession at Kensington Palace on June 20, 1837. The image is an engraving based on a painting by Miss Mary L. Gow, featured in the book "V. R. I. Her Life and Empire" written by the Marquis of Lorne, who later became His Grace the Duke of Argyll. In this regal scene, Queen Victoria stands tall and composed as she receives the life-changing news that she is now the ruler of one of the world's most powerful empires.
