Nature's Poop-etry - Otter Scats and the Art of Holt Maintenance in Shetland Summer!

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this print by David Tipling, we witness a unique glimpse into the secret world of otters. These mischievous creatures have left their mark at a latrine close to their holt in the picturesque Shetland Islands. But wait, don't wrinkle your nose just yet! There's more to these scats than meets the eye. As we examine this fascinating snapshot, it becomes clear that otters take great pride in their toilet habits. The neatly arranged scats resemble an abstract masterpiece carefully curated by Mother Nature herself. Each track tells a story - tales of adventure, playful encounters, and perhaps even romantic rendezvous! The signpost-like appearance of these scat piles is not merely coincidental; it serves as a message board for other otters passing by. It's like they're saying, "Hey there fellow lutra lutras! This is our territory – respect our boundaries!". But beyond its informational purpose lies an unexpected beauty within this photograph. Against the backdrop of lush greenery and shimmering sunlight, David Tipling has captured nature's artistry at its finest – transforming something seemingly ordinary into an extraordinary visual delight. So next time you stumble upon some otter scats during your outdoor escapades, take a moment to appreciate the hidden poetry behind them. And remember, even in nature's most peculiar creations lies boundless wonder
