EDITORS COMMENTS
In this iconic photo print, we witness a historic moment in rugby history as the Midlands team is applauded off the Welford Road pitch after their triumphant victory over the mighty All Blacks in 1983. The Midland Division's remarkable performance during the New Zealand Tour to Scotland & England left spectators awestruck and filled with admiration. At the center of this jubilant scene stands Midlands scrum half Nick Youngs, who played an instrumental role in leading his team to victory. As he walks off the field, applause reverberates through the stadium, acknowledging his exceptional skills and unwavering determination throughout the game. Standing beside Youngs is none other than Clive Woodward, a prominent figure in English rugby at that time. His presence adds another layer of significance to this photograph, symbolizing not only a memorable triumph for Midlands but also highlighting Woodward's influence on shaping future generations of rugby players. The image captures more than just a victorious moment; it encapsulates resilience, teamwork, and sheer passion for the sport. It serves as a reminder that underdogs can rise above expectations and achieve greatness against all odds.
