EDITORS COMMENTS
Captured in this vintage print is the Stockport County Reserves team of the 1929/30 football season, as they faced off against Aston Villa Reserves. The image showcases the camaraderie and determination of these young athletes, who were ready to give their all on the field. Standing tall at the back row are players Cawley, Morrison, McGann, Vincent, Leslie Raisbeck, and Tom Curry. Their focused expressions reveal their commitment to representing Stockport County with pride. Mr Catterick, the team's trainer, stands alongside them - a guiding figure in their pursuit of excellence. In the front row stand Seabrook, Brett, Hudspeth (whose name would later become synonymous with Stockport County), Everest, Brown and Webster. These talented individuals formed an integral part of Stockport County's second XI team during that memorable season. The black-and-white aesthetic adds a timeless quality to this photograph from Colorsport Images/Wilkes. It serves as a reminder of a bygone era when football was played with grit and passion rather than commercial interests. This snapshot allows us to glimpse into history and appreciate the dedication shown by these young footballers who proudly wore the Stockport County jersey.
