EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph taken by Dougie Allward on July 21,2014, at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone, we find a pivotal moment during the pre-season friendly match between Extension Gunners and Bristol City. The image focuses on Steve Lansdown, the majority shareholder of Bristol City Football Club, as he intently observes the action unfolding on the pitch. The year was 2014, and the first team was in the midst of their preparations for the upcoming 14-15 season. This particular fixture was part of the team's botswana tour, an essential component of their pre-season training regimen. The Botswana National Stadium, with its unique atmosphere and vibrant energy, provided the perfect backdrop for this intriguing encounter. Bristol City Community Trust, an integral part of the club, was also present in Botswana, engaging with local communities and promoting the values of football and social responsibility. The tour served as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the club and its supporters, both in the UK and abroad. Steve Lansdown, a devoted fan and influential figure in the club's history, was in Botswana to show his unwavering support for the team. His presence on the sidelines underscored the importance of this pre-season match and the significance of the club's global reach. With a keen expression and a watchful eye, Lansdown embodied the spirit of commitment and passion that defines Bristol City Football Club. This photograph encapsulates the essence of football, the connection between fans, players, and the community, and the excitement of a new season. It serves as a testament to the enduring power of the beautiful game and the unifying role it plays in bringing people together.
