Great memory! This photograph captures the excitement and tension of a pivotal away game during Brighton & Hove Albion FC's historic 2013-14 season. The date is 01-03-2014, and the opponent is Millwall Football Club. At the time, Brighton & Hove Albion were challenging for promotion to the Championship, having already secured their place in the League One play-offs. Millwall, on the other hand, were a formidable opponent, known for their passionate home support and combative style of play. The atmosphere in The Den was electric, with the Millwall fans in full voice as their team looked to secure all three points against their promotion-chasing rivals. Brighton & Hove Albion, however, were not to be intimidated. The team put in a valiant performance, creating numerous chances and keeping Millwall at bay with some resolute defending. Despite the pressure, the score remained goalless deep into injury time. The away fans, who had travelled in their numbers, were on the edge of their seats, willing their team to hold on for a precious point. And then, in the final moments of stoppage time, Brighton & Hove Albion were awarded a free-kick just outside the Millwall penalty area. Up stepped midfielder Beram Kayal, who curled the ball into the box with pinpoint accuracy. The Millwall goalkeeper was unable to keep it out, and the ball bounced in off the post, sending the away fans into raptures. The final whistle blew moments later, and Brighton & Hove Albion had secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory. This photograph is a reminder of that unforgettable moment, and the determination and resilience that carried Brighton & Hove Albion to promotion that season.
