EDITORS COMMENTS
Great photo capturing the intensity and competitiveness of the Carling League Cup match between West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal, held at The Hawthorns in West Bromwich, Birmingham on October 24,2006. In this image, we see Armand Traore of Arsenal in action against Steve Watson of West Bromwich Albion. The third round encounter ended in a 0:2 victory for Arsenal. Armand Traore, a French left-back, was a promising young player for Arsenal at the time, having joined the club in 2004 from Auxerre. He made his debut for the Gunners in the League Cup against Rotherham United earlier that season and went on to make several appearances in the league and in European competitions. Steve Watson, on the other hand, was an experienced English defender who had spent the majority of his career with Sheffield Wednesday before joining West Bromwich Albion in 2006. He was known for his tough tackling and leadership qualities, making him a valuable addition to the Baggies' defense. Despite Watson's efforts to contain Traore, the Arsenal player managed to create several scoring opportunities for his team, setting up the first goal for Emmanuel Adebayor and contributing to the team's dominance throughout the match. The second goal was scored by Thierry Henry, securing Arsenal's place in the next round of the competition. This photo is a testament to the skill and determination of both players, as well as the excitement and tension of a competitive football match. It's a great reminder of the 2006-2007 season, when Arsenal continued to prove their strength in domestic and European competitions.
