Shingleback Skink Collection

The Shingleback Skink is a species of lizard native to Australia, and is also known as the Bobtail Lizard, Stumpy-tailed Lizard, or Sleepy Lizard. This skink can reach up to 11 inches in length and has a unique appearance with its two large scales on its back that resemble shingles and has a short tail and small legs and prefers dry habitats such as deserts and scrublands. The Shingleback Skink feeds primarily on insects, spiders, snails, worms, and other small invertebrates, and are diurnal animals that spend most of their time basking in the sun or hiding under rocks or logs during the day. During mating season they form monogamous pairs which remain together for life. The female lays 2-4 eggs per clutch which she guards until they hatch after about 8 weeks incubation period. The Shingleback Skink is an interesting species of lizard with its unique physical characteristics and behavior making it an interesting animal to observe in nature.
