Grandidieri Collection

Grandidieri (Tenrecidae) is a family of mammals found in Madagascar, and are small, nocturnal animals, with a body length of up to 11 inches and a weight of up to 1.5 pounds. They have short fur, long snouts, and large ears. Grandidieri feed on insects, worms, and other invertebrates, and are solitary animals that live in burrows or crevices in the ground during the day and come out at night to forage for food and can threatened by habitat destruction due to deforestation and agricultural expansion as well as hunting for their meat or fur. Conservation efforts have been put into place to protect these unique animals from extinction but more needs to be done if they are going to survive in the wild for future generations.
