Murinus Collection

Murinus is a genus of muridae mammals, which are small rodents found in the Old World, and are commonly known as mouse-like rats or gerbils. They have long, slender bodies with short legs and large ears. They range in size from 8 to 12 inches long and weigh between 1 and 2 ounces. Their fur is usually grayish-brown with white patches on their bellies and feet. Murinus feed mainly on seeds, nuts, fruits, insects, worms, and other small animals like lizards and frogs, and are active during the day but can also be seen at night foraging for food or searching for mates. Murinus live in burrows that they dig themselves or use abandoned burrows of other animals like rabbits or moles, and are social creatures that live in groups of up to 20 individuals but will sometimes form larger colonies when food is abundant.
