Ring-tailed Lemur Collection

The Ring-tailed Lemur (Lemuridae) is a medium-sized primate native to Madagascar, and is the most recognized lemur due to its long, black and white ringed tail, grayish brown coat with white underparts and a black face with white markings around the eyes. Its tail can reach up to two feet in length and it uses it for balance when leaping from tree to tree. It lives in groups of up to 30 individuals, led by one dominant female, who makes all of the decisions for the group, and are omnivorous animals that feed on fruits, leaves, flowers, insects and small vertebrates like lizards or birds, and are active during the day and sleep in trees at night, and are highly social animals that communicate through scent marking, vocalizations such as barks or screams and visual displays such as head bobbing or staring contests between males competing for dominance within their group hierarchy.
