Avus Collection

Avus is a wild dog species native to the Middle East and Central Asia, and is a medium-sized canine, with an average weight of 40 pounds and a shoulder height of up to 24 inches. The coat is short and dense, usually tan or reddish in color with white markings on the face, chest, legs, and tail. Avus has large ears that stand erect when alert and long legs for running fast over long distances, and are highly social animals that live in packs led by an alpha male or female. They hunt small prey such as rodents and birds but will also scavenge for food if necessary and can considered endangered due to habitat loss from human development as well as hunting for their fur. Conservation efforts have been put in place to help protect this species from further decline.
