Spotted-tailed Quoll Collection

The Spotted-tailed Quoll (Dasyuridae) is a carnivorous marsupial native to Australia and Tasmania, and is the largest of the quoll species, reaching up to 1.5 kg in weight and up to 70 cm in length, distinctive spotted coat, with white spots on its back, tail and legs that help it blend into its environment. Its diet consists mainly of small mammals, birds, reptiles and insects as well as carrion, and is an active hunter during the night time hours but will also scavenge for food during the day if necessary. The Spotted-tailed Quoll is listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss caused by land clearing activities such as logging and farming operations which have reduced their natural habitat range significantly over recent years. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species from further decline through habitat protection measures such as fencing off areas of suitable habitats or creating artificial refuges for them in areas where they are no longer found naturally occurring in large numbers.
