The Green Honeycreeper (Chlorophanes spiza) is a species of tanager, a type of passerine bird found in the Neotropics, and is native to Central and South America, ranging from Mexico to Bolivia and Brazil, bright green body with yellowish-green wings and tail feathers. Its head is black with white stripes on the sides, while its bill is long and curved downwards. The male has an orange patch on its throat, while the female lacks this feature. This species feeds mainly on nectar from flowers as well as insects, spiders, fruits and seeds, and are usually found in small flocks in open woodlands or near rivers or streams where there are plenty of flowering plants for them to feed on and are known for their beautiful song which consists of high-pitched whistles that can be heard over long distances.
