White Fronted Chat Collection

The White-fronted Chat (Epthianura albifrons) is a species of passerine bird in the honeyeater family Meliphagidae, and is native to Australia, and can be found in a variety of habitats including woodlands, grasslands and shrublands. The White-fronted Chat is a medium-sized bird with an overall greyish brown plumage, white throat and breast, yellow belly and black wings with white edges. Its bill is long and curved downwards at the tip. It feeds on insects such as beetles, ants, wasps and flies which it catches by hovering over vegetation or flying low over the ground. Breeding season occurs from August to December during which time they build cup shaped nests made from grasses lined with feathers in trees or shrubs near water sources. The female lays 2-3 eggs which are incubated for around 14 days before hatching. The chicks are fed by both parents until they fledge after about two weeks.
