Fairy Tern Collection

The Fairy Tern (Laridae Charadriiformes) is a small, migratory bird found in tropical and subtropical regions of the world and has a white body with black wings and tail feathers, and its head is adorned with a bright yellow crown. The Fairy Tern feeds on small fish, crustaceans, insects, and other invertebrates that it finds in shallow coastal waters. During breeding season, the male will construct a nest from twigs and grasses near the shoreline. The female will lay two to three eggs which are incubated by both parents for about three weeks before hatching. After hatching, both parents take turns feeding their young until they are ready to fledge at around four weeks old, and are considered vulnerable due to habitat destruction caused by human activities such as coastal development and pollution of their marine habitats.
