MFB and LCC-LFB Shooters Hill fire station

Converted from a former police station and opened in 1879, Shooters Hill fire station remained at this site (Old Police Station, Well Hall Road) until 1912 when the new Shooters Hill fire station, built by the LCC, was opened. This fire station (D44) was one of the boundary stations of the LCC, its station ground bordering on the Kent Fire Brigade area

Inside Australia Art Installation Lake Ballard

One of the 51 steel figures by Antony Gormley on Lake Ballard, a salt lake, installed in 2003 as a temporary exhibition that stayed, drawing acclaim from visitors and affection from locals. The figures extend around an ironstone mound on the edge of the lake and up to 10 km in all directions. Lake Ballard, near Menzies, Goldfields-Esperance region, Western Australia

Escape of HMS St Fiorenzo

"Vintage engraving from 1871 of the escape of HMS St Fiorenzo from the mutineers. St Fiorenzo was one of the ships caught up in the mutiny at the Nore in 1797, but was one of the few ships to remain loyal to her commander. She subsequently escaped to Harwich after enduring musket and grapeshot fire from the mutinous ships that left four of the crew wounded."
