Harehills Primary School, Markham Avenue, Harehills, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Harehills Primary School, Leeds, looking north, with children in the playground.
All of Laings documents about the contract refer to Harehills Primary School but elsewhere it is known as Bankside Primary School. It is unclear when this became the schools official name. There is another school on Darfield Road called Harehills Primary School. It was built to the same template but is a mirror image of the Markham Avenue site. Bankside Primary was demolished and replaced with a larger modern school building between 2009 and 2010

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a nostalgic scene at Harehills Primary School in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Looking northwards, the image showcases a bustling playground filled with energetic children immersed in playtime during their cherished childhood years. The vibrant atmosphere and lively interactions between the young students create an enchanting snapshot of education in the 1980s. Interestingly, there is some confusion surrounding the school's name. While Laings documents refer to it as Harehills Primary School, elsewhere it is known as Bankside Primary School. The official name change remains unclear and adds an intriguing layer to this historical documentation. It is worth noting that another school named Harehills Primary School exists on Darfield Road but differs from this location. Built using the same template, the Markham Avenue site featured in this photograph is its mirror image counterpart. Unfortunately, Bankside Primary School was later demolished and replaced with a larger modern building between 2009 and 2010. However, through this remarkable print by A© Historic England Archive, we are granted a timeless glimpse into the joyous moments shared by generations of students who once roamed these hallowed grounds.
