Race winner and new World Champion Jean-Pierre Monsere of Belgium waves to the crowd from the podium, at Mallory Park, Leicester.
Monsere, aged 21, was then the second-youngest ever world champion. Tragically he was killed the next year when he collided with a car during a race.
