Voyager spacecraft

Voyager spacecraft. Computer artwork of a Voyager spacecraft passing out of our solar system. Two Voyager spacecraft were launched in 1977, taking advantage of a rare alignment of the giant outer planets that made it possible to visit them in a single mission. Over the next twelve years the probes successfully carried out fly-by surveys of the Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune systems. A wealth of images and scientific data was beamed back to Earth using their dish antennae (yellow). The spacecraft have exceeded the escape velocity for the solar system, and continue to beam back data as they head out into interstellar space

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the incredible Voyager spacecraft, depicted through computer artwork as it ventures beyond our solar system. Launched in 1977, the two Voyager probes embarked on a groundbreaking mission made possible by a fortuitous alignment of the outer planets. Their objective was to conduct fly-by surveys of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune systems within a single mission. Over the course of twelve years, these intrepid explorers successfully captured an abundance of images and scientific data from their encounters with these distant giants. Using their distinctive dish antennae (colored yellow), they beamed this valuable information back to Earth. Remarkably, both spacecraft have surpassed the escape velocity required to leave our solar system and continue their interstellar journey. As they venture into uncharted territory beyond our known celestial neighborhood, they persistently transmit data that continues to astound scientists and expand our understanding of the universe. This awe-inspiring illustration not only highlights humanity's insatiable thirst for knowledge but also pays tribute to the tireless efforts behind this remarkable space exploration endeavor. It serves as a testament to mankind's ingenuity and determination in unraveling the mysteries that lie among stars and planets far beyond our reach.
