Vladimir Platonov, Soviet mathematician

Vladimir Petrovich Platonov (born 1939), Soviet mathematician. Platonov, a member of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, was the Director of the Institute of Mathematics for that Academy from 1977 to 1992. From 1993 to 2001, he was a mathematics professor at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1978, and the Humboldt Prize in 1993.
