Steam-powered coach, 1826

Steam-powered coach, historical artwork. This coach was known as the Gurney steam carriage and resembles a horseless stage coach with a boiler at the back for producing high pressure steam. It was designed and built by Goldsworthy Gurney (1793-1875) in England in 1826. This 1828 aquatint engraving by Henry Pyall shows ladies and gentlemen aboard Gurneys steam carriage, as they pull up outside an inn en route to Bath from London in the UK
