Apollo 16 rocket launch. Saturn 5 rocket launching the Apollo 16 mission into space from Launch Complex 39A at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. Apollo 16 was the tenth manned mission in the US Apollo program and the fifth mission to land on the Moon. The mission was launched on 16th April 1972, and concluded on 27th April. Despite a malfunction in the command module, which almost aborted the lunar landing, Apollo 16 landed successfully in the Descartes Highlands on the Moon on 21st April.
