Soyuz TMA-11 rocket on transporter
The rocket carrying the Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft seen on its transporter train. The train is used to carry the rocket from the assembly building to the launch pad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Soyuz TMA-11 was a mission to the International Space Station launched on 10 October 2007. It carried Expedition 16 crew members Yuri Malenchenko and Peggy Whitson, and spaceflight participant Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, the first Malaysian in space. Malenchenko and Whitson returned using the TMA-11 craft on 19 April 2008, along with Korean astronaut Yi So-yeon (who was launched on mission TMA-12 on 8 April 2008). There was a technical malfunction during re-entry and the craft reentered on a ballistic trajectory. The crew was subjected to up to 10g forces and the capsule landed 418km off course

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the awe-inspiring Soyuz TMA-11 rocket, securely fastened onto its transporter train as it embarks on a monumental journey. The Baikonur Cosmodrome serves as the backdrop for this momentous occasion, where dreams of space exploration become reality. The Soyuz TMA-11 mission, launched on 10 October 2007, was destined for the International Space Station (ISS). On board were esteemed Expedition 16 crew members Yuri Malenchenko and Peggy Whitson, alongside Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, who made history as Malaysia's first astronaut in space. As this heavy and delicate Russian spacecraft is carefully transported from the assembly building to the launch pad, one cannot help but marvel at the intricate engineering that enables such interstellar voyages. The railway system acts as a reliable carrier for this colossal rocket, ensuring its safe passage towards destiny among distant stars. However, not all journeys go according to plan. During re-entry on 19 April 2008, technical malfunctions caused the Soyuz TMA-11 craft to deviate from its intended trajectory. This unexpected turn subjected the courageous crew to intense forces of up to 10g before their capsule landed an astounding 418km off course. Despite these challenges faced during their return home from outer space, every aspect of this photograph encapsulates both triumph and resilience within humanity's quest for knowledge beyond our planet's boundaries. It stands as a testament to international collaboration between American and Russian astronauts while highlighting significant milestones achieved by Malaysian astronaut Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.
