Nikolai Petrovich Dubinin (1907-1998), Russian geneticist, examining microscope slides in a laboratory. Dubinin was one of the founding members of the Cytology and Genetics Insitute within the USSR Academy of Sciences, directing the Institute from 1957-59. Together with Belyaev, Dubinin worked to restore the science of genetics in the USSR after it had been declared a banned pseudoscience in the 1940s under the influence of Trofim Lysenko and Communist politics.
