It has been gradually spreading northwards and westwards and is becoming a common pest of gardens. The female lays 200-300 eggs in early summer, mainly on lilies, but also on fritillaries, Nomocharis and Solomons seal (Polygonatum sp.). The larvae eat the foliage and cause severe damage
