These are programmable Lego bricks which can interact with their environment. The feet are equipped with electric motors and touch sensors. These sensors and motors are coordinated by the Mindstorm bricks allowing Elektra to negotiate obstacles. The robots mood can be programmed, shown by the mouth and eyebrows which create a facial expression, in this case sadness. The Mindstorm bricks control Elektra with software written by LegoLab, Legos research laboratory in Denmark.
