Firestone and Edison, US businessmen, walking together. US businessman Harvey Samuel Firestone (left, 1868-1938) founded the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1900, one of the first global makers of automobile tyres. US inventor Thomas Alva Edison (right, 1847-1931) filed 1069 patents on his inventions, which included the electric light bulb, the phonograph (a sound-recording device) and microphones. Both Firestone and Edison were leaders of US industry at the time (along with Henry Ford), and were both part of what was called the Millionaires Club, often taking vacations together.
